Both regimes include the 4% health & education cess and Section 87A rebate (nil tax up to ₹12,00,000 taxable in the new regime; ₹5,00,000 in the old). Old regime: slabs of 5% (₹2.5–5L), 20% (₹5–10L) and 30% (above ₹10L). Indicative estimate — surcharge and special-rate income (e.g. capital gains) are not modelled.
